 College is coming! With Covid-19 restrictions many schools are starting earlier than ever. Move-in schedules have been pushed up and it’s time to take a look at your check list. 

Whether you are relocating to campus or taking classes remotely, here are a few ideas to help you get college-ready.

Basic Dorm Design 

If you are moving onto campus, dorm assignments come out by early July at most schools and many even sooner. 

Whether you have a roommate or a single, dorm rooms come with basically the same furniture…and trust us, it is not attractive. 

Obviously you’ll have your bed, as well as a dresser, side table, storage space, and desk!  But it’s up to you to make it your own.

Where can I find my dorm details?

 Go the housing section of your school’s website. There you can find basic floor plan with layouts for the various dorm buildings. Certain schools provide more information than others, but you can always contact campus housing for window and closet specs, for example, if those cannot be located online.

 

Create a check-list!

Your Design Plan

Make sure your dorm room suits YOU. Create a space that is comfortable and functional. 

Start with the bed!

It is the anchor of your space. Consider the amount of time you will be sitting on your bed. It’s a lot! White is probably not be the best choice… denim and dark colors bleed onto white fabrics. Choose some color for your bedding… it hides dirt and will bring some cheer to your room!

 

Add a headboard pillow.

Add a Bed Skirt!
